Disassembly
1. Remove the final drive gear.
2. Remove the speed sensor drive gear by cutting it.
3. Press differential bearings. Do not interchange the right and left bearings.
4. Knock out the fixing pin and take out the axis of the satellites.
5. Remove satellites and side gears. Examination
Gears, washers, pinion shaft and differential box. Check up a condition of adjoining surfaces of a box of differential, half-axle gear wheels and satellites. Check the degree of wear of the thrust washers.
Bearings. Make sure the bearings rotate freely and without abnormal noise, cracks, pitting and visible wear.
Assembly
1. Install the side gears with thrust washers in the differential case.
2. Install satellites with thrust washers.
3. Insert the axis of the satellites. In the meantime, keep an eye on it. not to damage the thrust washers.
4. Measure the clearance between the side gears and the differential case with thrust washers. To do this, insert a special mandrel into the side gear and, using a dial indicator, determine the gear travel by moving it up and down. The gap should be 0.1-0.2 mm. Measurements must be taken for each side gear.
If the gap does not lie within the specified limits, adjust it by selecting thrust washers with the desired thickness. Available washer thicknesses are listed in section «Data for adjustments and control».
5. Press in the pin that fixes the axis of the satellites. The pin must be flush with the differential case.
6. Install the final drive gear. Before tightening the driven gear mounting bolts, apply sealant to their threads.
7. Install the speed sensor drive gear and circlip.
8. Press on differential bearings.
