2. Gently prying with two screwdrivers or a large pry bar, remove the front crankshaft oil seal from its seat in the front timing cover - try not to damage the shaft trunnion.
3. Clean the walls of the seat, completely removing traces of corrosion and fragments of the old stuffing box from them. Insert a new seal into the seat (sponges inside), having previously lubricated its outer surface with impellent oil.
4. Using a deep socket of the appropriate size as a mandrel, or a piece of pipe of a suitable diameter, tap the stuffing box into the seat until it stops against the cover flange.
5. Assess the condition of the sealing surface of the damper hub of the crankshaft pulley. In case of detection of grooves made by the stuffing box, perform the necessary refurbishment by pressing an additional bushing into the hub.
Note. Planting the repair sleeve is quite simple with a wooden block and a hammer.
6. Lubricate the lips of the new oil seal with clean engine oil, then reinstall the crankshaft pulley. Screw in the mounting bolt and tighten it to the required torque.
7. Install the remaining components in the reverse order of their dismantling. Make sure all fasteners are tightened to the correct torque.
8. Start the engine and check for signs of oil leaks around the front timing cover.
