Cylinder head cover mounting elements

Removal
- Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
- Relieve the fuel pressure.
- Remove the engine cover (2) by unscrewing its mounting bolts (1) (see figure NM.02.002 on the next page. p.).
- Disconnect the air flow meter electrical connector and remove the air cleaner assembly with the air duct.
- Remove the right front wiper arm and the right front windshield panel cover.
- Label all wires to ensure proper installation.
- Remove any fuel and vent lines that may interfere with removal of the cylinder head cover.
- Remove the upper and lower parts of the intake manifold pipe.
Caution: The upper part of the intake manifold pipe should be moved to the side along with the coolant hoses connected to it, and the coolant does not need to be drained.
- Remove the ignition coils (1) by unscrewing the mounting bolts (4).

- Remove the crankcase ventilation hoses from the cylinder head covers.
- Disconnect any wiring that may interfere with the removal of the cylinder head cover, making sure to mark it first.
- Wipe the cover clean to prevent dirt from getting inside the cylinder head.
- Loosen the cylinder head cover mounting bolts.
Sequence for unscrewing the cylinder head cover mounting bolts
Note: The illustration shows the left cover, the sequence for unscrewing the bolts for the right cover is similar.
- Carefully remove the cylinder head cover and gasket. If the cover is stuck to the cylinder head, tap it with a rubber mallet. Do not try to pry it off with a screwdriver, as this may damage the mating surfaces.
- Remove all traces of old seal material.
- Wipe the mating surfaces and sealant application areas on camshaft caps #1 with solvent or acetone.
- Check the condition of all rubber seals on the cover and replace if necessary.
Installation
- Thoroughly clean the sealing surfaces of the cover and cylinder head, remove traces of oil.
- Apply a 3mm diameter bead of sealant to the areas shown in the figure (both edges of the No. 1 camshaft cover on both cylinder banks).
♦ First, apply the sealant in the longitudinal direction (the length of the sealant layer shown in the figure is 5mm+5mm).

- RTV silicone thread sealant should be used as a sealant.
- Carefully install the cylinder head cover into place, making sure that the seals do not move.
- Make sure the cover is installed correctly, then tighten the bolts, first placing washers on them. Tighten the cover bolts in the following sequence in two steps:
- Stage 1: 0.96-2.96 N·m;
- Stage 2: 7.33-9.33 N·m.
Note: The illustration shows the right cover, the bolt tightening sequence for the left cover is the same.
- Install the crankcase ventilation hose.
♦ Insert the crankcase ventilation hose 25-30 mm from the end of the branch pipe. When installing, be careful not to allow the hose to twist or come into contact with other parts.
- Install the crankcase ventilation hose between the right and left valve covers with the identification marks on the hose facing up (to the right valve cover).
- Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
