Removing
1. Remove the mounting clip, squeeze the plastic locking tabs, remove the pin and disconnect the pusher from the brake pedal.
2. Try to remember the installation position of the pedal return spring, give the axle bolt nut, remove the bolt from the support bracket and remove the pedal from the car (the pedal components are shown in the accompanying illustration). Check the pedal for cracks and signs of deformation. Make any necessary repairs or replace the pedal.
1 - bolt; 2 - bushing; 3 - pedal; 4 - spring; 5 - washer; 6 - nut
3. Check the pedal axle bushings for signs of wear and damage. Check the force developed by the return spring. Replace defective components.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order.
1. Track, that a pedal when releasing returned to the same position, as before removal.
2. Tighten the axle bolt nut to the required torque.
3. Check the height setting and pedal free play, correct if necessary.
Adjusting the height of the position and the amount of free play of the brake pedal
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the brake light switch.
3. Loosen the locknut for two brake lights and turn the sensor-switch counterclockwise, moving it away from the pedal.
4. Loosen the locknut of the pusher tip and adjust the length of the latter, achieving the desired pedal height (see tables of sizes and adjustments at the end of the guide). The measurement is taken from the floor panel to the surface of the pedal pad (A) in the accompanying illustration.
1 - pusher; 2 - fixing pin; 3 - sensor-switch of brake lights; 4 - locknut; 5 - pedal; 6 - pedal pad
Attention! The measurement is made with the mat removed! Tighten the pusher tip locknut.
Note. Make sure that when the adjustment is completed, the tip does not come off the pusher rod.
5. Adjust the position of the sensor-switch of the brake lights so that the gap between the edge of the threaded part of the sensor-switch and the pedal (B - see accompanying illustration) was 0.3÷1.0 mm. Tighten the sensor-switch locknut and check the pedal free play (see tables of sizes and adjustments at the end of the guide).
6. If necessary, correct the position of the sensor-switch, achieving the required amount of free play. Make sure the brake lights do not come on when the brake pedal is released.
