Removal
1. Remove the retaining clip, squeeze the plastic retaining tabs, remove the pin and disconnect the push rod from the brake pedal.
2. Try to remember the installation position of the pedal return spring, loosen the axle bolt nut, remove the bolt from the support bracket and remove the pedal from the car (the pedal components are shown in the accompanying illustration). Check the pedal for cracks and signs of deformation. Make the necessary repairs or replace the pedal.

3. Check the pedal axle bushings for signs of wear and damage. Check the force developed by the return spring. Replace defective components.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order.
1. Make sure that when released, the pedal returns to the same position as before removal.
2. Tighten the axle bolt nut to the required torque.
3. Check the height setting and the amount of free travel of the pedal, and make adjustments if necessary.
Adjusting the height and free travel of the brake pedal
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the brake light switch sensor.
3. Loosen the lock nut on both brake lights and turn the switch sensor counterclockwise, moving it away from the pedal.
4. Loosen the lock nut of the push rod end and adjust the length of the latter, achieving the required pedal height (see size and adjustment tables at the end of the Manual). The measurement is made from the floor panel to the pedal pad surface (A) in the accompanying illustration.

Attention! The measurement is taken with the mat removed! Tighten the pushrod tip lock nut.
Note: Make sure that the tip does not come off the push rod after completing the adjustment.
5. Adjust the position of the brake light switch so that the gap between the edge of the threaded part of the switch and the pedal (B - see accompanying illustration) was 0.3÷1.0 mm. Tighten the lock nut of the sensor-switch and check the amount of free pedal travel (see size and adjustment tables at the end of the Guide).
6. If necessary, adjust the position of the switch sensor to achieve the required amount of free play. Make sure that the brake lights do not light when the brake pedal is released.
