Check after removal
Check the following and replace parts if necessary:
Wishbone
Check the transverse arm and bushings for deformation, cracks and damage.
Ball joint boot for cracks and other damage, and for grease leaks.
Spherical bearing
1. Shake the ball joint pin by hand to check the smoothness of its movement.
2. Shake the ball joint pin at least ten times by hand to make sure there are no wedging.
3. Hook up the spring dynamometer (A) for the hole in the ball joint pin (IN). Note the dynamometer reading at the moment when the finger begins to deviate.
If the value obtained exceeds the maximum allowable values (see section «Service data and specification» at the end of the chapter), replace the control arm assembly.
4. Determine the play by moving the ball joint pin in the axial direction. Backlash should be absent. If there is play, replace the control arm assembly.
Check after installation
1. Check wheel alignment.
2. Adjust the neutral position of the steering angle sensor.
