Anti-lock brake system malfunction indicator (ABS)
After turning the ignition switch to position «ON» The anti-lock brake system warning light comes on and goes out after a while. This means that the anti-lock braking system is working. If the anti-lock brake system warning light does not go out while the engine is running or comes on while driving, this may indicate a malfunction of the anti-lock brake system and need to be checked. Have your Nissan dealer check the anti-lock brake system. When an ABS malfunction occurs, its anti-lock function is disabled. The braking system remains fully operational. However, the system will not be able to prevent the wheels from locking when braking.
Brake system malfunction indicator
Attention.
- If the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir is below the minimum mark, do not drive until the system has been checked by an Authorized Nissan Dealer.
- Even if you think it's safe to continue driving, the vehicle should be towed to a repair site, as driving in this condition can be hazardous.
- When the engine is not running and / or when the brake fluid level is insufficient, the force on the brake pedal and its travel will increase; the braking distance of the car will increase accordingly.
The inclusion of a visual indicator of a malfunction of the brake system indicates an undisengaged parking brake, a low level of brake fluid in the reservoir, and a malfunction of the anti-lock system.
Parking brake indicator
The indicator turns on when the ignition switch is turned to the position «ON». If the engine is running and the driver releases the parking brake, the brake warning light will turn off. If the parking brake is not fully released, the brake system warning light remains on. Before driving, make sure the brake warning light goes off.
Low brake fluid warning light
If the brake warning light comes on with the engine running or while driving, and the parking brake is released, this may indicate a low level of brake fluid in the reservoir. If the brake warning light comes on while driving, stop as soon as possible in accordance with the rules of the road. Stop the engine and check the brake fluid level. If the brake fluid level has fallen below the minimum mark, add the required amount of brake fluid to bring it up to normal. If the brake fluid level is out of specification, contact your authorized Nissan dealer immediately.

Diesel particulate filter warning light (DPF)
Attention.
- Be careful not to get burned by the high temperature exhaust gases.
- Do not stop or park the vehicle where flammable materials may come into contact with hot exhaust system components (for example, in areas covered with dry grass, pieces of paper, rags, or similar materials that can easily ignite).
- If you continue to drive at low speed while the DPF warning light is on, the control system will automatically limit engine speed and engine torque. In this case, you will have to change the engine oil ahead of time, and the process of burning the particulate filter accumulated in the particulate filter will need to be performed at a Nissan dealer service center. Diesel particulate filter regeneration is not covered by Nissan warranty service.
- For vehicles equipped with a diesel particulate filter, use only the recommended engine oil.
Attention. During the combustion of particulate matter, the particulate filter heats up to a very high temperature.
Some diesel engines are equipped with a particulate filter (DPF), which is a device for removing solid carbon particles contained in exhaust gases (soot). For the effective operation of the particulate filter (DPF) it must be periodically cleaned of carbon solids accumulated in it. This process is called particulate filter regeneration. Usually this process is carried out automatically and is not noticeable to the driver.
Necessary conditions for the implementation of the regeneration process
During frequent short trips with occasional stops and starts, an excessive amount of particulate matter may accumulate in the particulate filter. When this situation occurs, the DPF warning lamp comes on to inform the driver that it is necessary to withstand a special driving mode in order to regenerate the particulate filter. If the particulate filter warning light comes on (DPF), it is necessary to drive at a speed of at least 60 km / h, after making sure that these actions are safe and permissible, until the DPF warning lamp goes out. This process may take up to 30 minutes.
Violation of the regeneration process
Ignoring the requirements associated with the actions of the driver when the particulate filter warning lamp is turned on (DPF), may cause the diesel particulate filter to become overfilled with particulate matter. In this case, the engine malfunction indicator will light up (MI). This will mean that you need to visit a Nissan dealer for a diesel particulate filter service regeneration procedure. In addition, the engine speed can also be limited to 3000 rpm to protect the particulate filter.
Note. If it is necessary to carry out the forced particulate filter regeneration procedure, contact an authorized Nissan dealer.

Attention.
- If the EPAS power steering warning light comes on while the vehicle is moving, stop as soon as possible in a safe manner.
- In some cases, external factors may affect the activation of the EPAS power steering warning lamp. When the warning lamp comes on, stop as soon as possible, observing traffic safety rules. Turn the ignition off for about 20 seconds, then turn the ignition back on (position «ON»). If the alarm. stays lit, contact your authorized Nissan dealer.
Engine oil low pressure warning light
Low engine oil pressure warning light comes on when ignition is turned on (position «ON» ignition switch). After starting the engine, the low engine oil pressure indicator goes out. This means that the oil pressure sensors are working. If the low engine oil pressure warning light is on or flashing while the engine is running, this may indicate that the oil pressure in the engine lubrication system is too low. Stop the car as soon as possible, observing the rules and requirements of traffic safety. Then stop the engine immediately and contact an Authorized Nissan Dealer.
Attention.
- Running the engine with the low engine oil pressure warning light on can cause serious damage to the engine.
