Note: All service values are listed in the section "Service data and specification" at the end of this chapter.
1. Using a scraper, remove the gasket from the surface of the cylinder block, as well as remove engine oil, scale, soot and other contaminants.
Caution: Make sure that no gasket residue gets into the lubrication or cooling system channels in the cylinder block.
2. Using a straightedge (A) and a set of flat feeler gauges (B), measure the deformation of the upper surface of the cylinder block at several points in six directions.
Note: If the measured values exceed the maximum permissible limits, replace the cylinder block with a new one.
