- Valve stem diameter (d).
- Valve face angle (A).
- Valve head diameter (D).
- Valve length (L).
- Valve head collar thickness (T).
2. Measure the following valve seat parameters:
- Seat Angle (A).
- Contact surface width (X).
- Valve seat outer diameter (D).
3. Clearance between valve stem and valve guide:
- Measure the diameter of the valve stem with a micrometer.
- Measure the inside diameter of the valve guide.
Calculate the clearance between the valve guide and the valve stem as the difference between the inside and outside diameters.
(Clearance between guide sleeve and valve stem) = (Valve guide inner diameter) - (Valve stem diameter)
Clearance between guide sleeve and valve stem:
- Inlet valve: 0.02-0.05mm
- Exhaust valve: 0.03) -0.063mm
If the clearance exceeds the limit, replace the valve and/or valve guide.
4. Measure the following valve spring parameters:
- Free height.
- Height when fully compressed.
- Coil diameter.
- Inner diameter.
- Outside diameter.
- non-perpendicular to the base.
