Method of measurement
Install the main bearings into the cylinder block and caps. Measure the inside diameters of the main bearings by tightening the bearing cap bolts to the specified torque.
(Oil clearance) = (Inner diameter of main bearing) - (Outside diameter of crankshaft main journal)
- Standard clearance: 0.039-0.066 mm
If the measured values exceed the specified values, select the main bearings based on the inner diameter of the main bearing housings and the outer diameter of the crankshaft main necks so that the oil gap corresponds to the norm (see the following section "The procedure for selecting main bearings").
Method of measurement using calibrated plastic wire
Wipe off dirt and oil from the crankshaft main journals and bearing surfaces.
(The source is published on the portal: «www.NISSANBOOK.ru»)
Cut the wire into pieces slightly shorter than the width of the bearings, place them in the direction of the crankshaft axis, but not on the lubrication holes.
Tighten the main bearing bolts to the specified torque.
Caution: Do not turn the crankshaft.
Remove the caps and bearings and measure the width of the wire pieces using the scale on the wire package.

Note: If the measured value exceeds the standard, take the same measures as specified in "Measurement Method".
