2. Remove the breather hose.
3. Remove the control cable from the gearbox.
4. Remove the range switch, valve body, vehicle speed sensor 1 (RE4F04A (V)), pulley speed sensors (RE0F06A (V)) and step-down resistor (RE0F06A (V), except 4WD models), connectors and ground wiring, etc.
5. Disconnect the connectors and remove the ACM wiring (models with YD25DDTi engine).
6. Remove the TDC sensor and rubber bushing (models with YD25DDTi engine).
7. Remove the starter.
8. Remove the front exhaust pipe and drive shafts.
9. Remove the oil cooler hose.
10. Remove the transfer case, see chapter Transfer case.
11. Support the automatic transmission with a jack.

Caution: Support the gearbox with a jack so that it does not touch the drain plug.
12. Remove the center beam, insulators and engine brackets, see chapter Engine mechanical part.
13. Remove the boot from the torque converter housing section.
14. While turning the crankshaft, unscrew the 4 mounting bolts of the drive disk and torque converter.
Caution: Turn the crankshaft to the right (if you look from the front of the engine).
15. Support the engine with a jack.
16. Unscrew the bolts securing the engine to the gearbox.
17. Remove the gearbox from the vehicle.
