Transmission oil
Drain (2WD modifications)
1. Start the engine and let it run to warm up the transmission.
2. Stop the engine. Remove the drain plug and drain the gear oil.
3. Install the gasket on the drain plug and insert the plug into the clutch housing. Tighten the plug with a tightening torque of 34.5 Nm.
Attention. Do not reuse drain plug gasket.
Refueling (2WD modifications)
1. Remove the filler plug. Pour fresh gear oil into the gearbox housing.
A. Suitable stylus (kernel).
Note. Use Genuine NISSAN Gear Oil for Manual Transmissions (MTF) HQ Multi 75W-85 or API GL-4, SAE 75W-85 viscosity.
2. After filling, check the oil level.
3. Install the O-ring on the plug and insert the plug into the transmission case.
Attention. Do not reuse the O-ring.
4. Tighten the plug fixing bolt to 4.37 Nm.
Checking for Leaks
Check for signs of oil leakage on and around the gearbox.
Checking the transmission oil level
1. Remove the stopper (1).
2. Measure the transmission oil level using a suitable dipstick (A), as shown in the figure, and compare the resulting value with the specification (see section «Service data and specification» at the end of the chapter).
Attention. Do not start the engine while checking the transmission oil level.
Note. It is necessary to measure the level of friction oil by placing a suitable surgeon close to the wall of the gearbox housing.
3. Install the O-ring on the plug and insert the plug into the transmission case.
Attention. Do not reuse the O-ring.
4. Tighten the plug fixing bolt to 4.37 Nm.

Checking the transmission oil level
1. Remove the stopper (1).
2. Measure the transmission oil level using a suitable dipstick (A), as shown in the figure, and compare the resulting value «L» with specification (see section «Service data and specification» at the end of the chapter).
Attention. Do not start the engine while checking the transmission oil level.
Note. To measure the transmission oil level, place a suitable rod close to the gearbox housing sled.
3. Install the O-ring on the plug and insert the plug into the transmission case.
Attention. Do not reuse the O-ring.
