When connecting or disconnecting connectors to or from the TCM, be careful not to damage the connector pins (neither bend nor break). Before connecting the connector, make sure that the connector pins are not bent or broken.
After diagnosing a malfunction, you must perform the procedure "Checking trouble codes". After the repair procedure "Checking trouble codes" should not detect the presence of fault codes.
Use in the automatic transmission only the working fluid that is prescribed by the technical specifications.
When carrying out repairs, use special paper instead of rags, which does not leave fibers.
Used working fluid (ATF) should be disposed of in the manner prescribed by law.
Before dismantling the gearbox, thoroughly clean the outer surfaces of its housing. It is very important to take the necessary measures to prevent contamination of contour parts.
Disassembly should be done in a clean area.
Use lint-free paper to wipe the parts. Ordinary rags can become loose, and threads can cause automatic transmission failure.
Lay out the parts of the disassembled automatic transmission in an order convenient for its subsequent assembly.
Before inspection and assembly, all parts must be thoroughly cleaned with a non-flammable solvent.
Gaskets and o-rings must be replaced with each automatic transmission overhaul.
The valve box contains precision parts, and its disassembly and maintenance require special care. Lay out the parts of the disassembled valve box in order convenient for its subsequent assembly. Take all measures to prevent the loss of springs and other small parts.
When installing spools, bushings and plugs, do not apply force. They must enter the holes under their own weight.
Before assembly, lubricate the parts with the recommended working fluid. Use petroleum jelly to protect O-rings and seals and to position bearings and washers during assembly. Do not use grease.
Particular care must be taken during assembly with O-rings, gaskets and seals.
After assembly, fill the automatic transmission with new working fluid.
When unscrewing the drain plug, only part of the working fluid is drained from the automatic transmission. Part of the old working fluid remains in the automatic transmission radiator and in the torque converter.
