Check before disassembly
Move the hinge up/down, left/right and axially. Make sure it moves freely and there is no significant play.
Check for cracks and damage on the covers, if the grease is leaking.
From the side of the wheel
1. Remove the signal ring from the drive shaft using a suitable bearing clamp and puller as shown.
2. Secure the shaft in a vise.
Attention: When fixing the shaft in a vise, protect it from damage by lining it with copper or aluminum plates.
3. Remove the clamps from the boot. Remove the cover from the hinge assembly.
4. Thread the driveshaft puller 30mm or more onto the threaded part of the pivot. Remove the hinge from the shaft.
Caution: If the joint cannot be removed after five or more unsuccessful attempts, replace the entire drive shaft assembly.
5. Remove the boot from the shaft.
6. Remove the damper from the shaft.
7. Remove the ring clamp from the shaft.
8. Remove old grease.
Thrust bearing (Z100D90+B, B90SFJ90+B)
1. Remove the boot from the shaft using a brass pin and a flathead screwdriver as shown.
2. Remove the retaining ring.
3. Press the housing out of the thrust bearing as shown in fig.
4. Remove the circlip from the thrust bearing housing. Then using a punch (special tool) Press the thrust bearing out of the housing as shown in the figure.
Gearbox Side (Z100D90+B, Z100D90)
1. Remove the clamps from the boot.
2. Remove the circlip and pivot housing.
3. Remove retaining ring, cage, steel balls and inner ring.
4. Remove the boots from the shaft.
Disassemble and inspect the cage, steel ball assemblies in case of damage to the boots and foreign particles in the lubricant.
Attention:
Disassemble the cage, steel ball assembly only if the grease is washed out.
If components such as steel balls are defective, replace the joint assembly.
5. Remove the steel balls with a screwdriver.
6. Pull out the inner race from the side of the larger diameter of the cage.
Caution: When removing the steel balls, do not damage the rolling surface of the balls or the inner ring.
Z80T86C, B90SFJ90+B, B 90S FJ 90, Z100T82F
1. Remove the clamps from the boot.
2. Secure the shaft in a vise.
Attention: When fixing the shaft in a vise, protect it from damage by lining it with copper or aluminum plates.
3. Place alignment marks on the shaft and spider assembly.
Caution: Mark with paint or similar. Do not scratch the surface.
4. Remove the retaining ring. Remove the cross assembly from the shaft.
5. Remove the cover from the shaft.
