Removal
1. Remove the rear axle. See Ch. Rear axle and suspension.
Caution: If removing the rear axle only to remove the drive shaft assemblies, loosen the fasteners on the trailing arms without unscrewing them. This will make it easier to check and adjust the wheel alignment angles after the work is completed.
2. Remove the drive shaft from the final drive using a wheel wrench or similar tool as shown in the figure.

Installation
1. To avoid damaging the seal on the main gear side, install the guard first before installing the drive shaft (special tool) on the seal.

Insert the drive shaft movable joint and tighten it tightly with a ring hammer.
Caution: Make sure the ring clamp is securely fastened.
2. Install the rear axle. See Ch. Rear axle and suspension.
