Removal
1. Remove the cotter pin. Unscrew the lock nut using a hub nut wrench (special tool).
2. Remove the ABS sensor from the steering knuckle.
3. Remove the steering rod from the steering knuckle using a suitable puller.
4. Remove the locking plate from the strut, disconnect the brake hose from the strut.
5. Remove the brake caliper and hang it up so that it does not interfere with work.
Caution: After removing the brake caliper, do not press the brake pedal.
6. Unscrew the mounting bolts of the steering knuckle and strut.
7. Remove the drive shaft from the steering knuckle using a suitable puller.
2WD models: Remove the support bearing bracket mounting bolts and remove the right drive shaft support bearing.
8. Disconnect the drive shaft from the gearbox using a wheel nut wrench or similar tool as shown in the illustration.
Attention:
When removing the drive shaft from the vehicle, be careful not to touch the brake hose, ABS wheel sensor wires, or other parts.
After removing the drive shaft, make sure the ring clamp is secure.
2WD models: Remove the right side shaft support bearing bracket mounting bolts and remove it from the engine.
4WD models: Remove the mounting bolts and axle shaft from the right drive shaft.
Installation
2WD models: Install the support bearing bracket and tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
4WD models: Install the axle shaft onto the right drive shaft and tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
1. To avoid damaging the differential seal, install the guard first before installing the drive shaft (special tool) onto the seal, see the drawing on the next page. Insert the movable joint of the drive shaft and seat it tightly with a ring hammer.
Caution: Make sure the ring clamp is securely fastened.

2WD models: Insert the right drive shaft support bearing bracket mounting bolts, install the support bearing, and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
: 13-19 Nm (1.3-1.9 kg·m)
2. Insert the drive shaft into the steering knuckle. Tighten the lock nut by hand.
3. Install the steering knuckle and tighten the strut mounting bolts.

4. Install the brake caliper.
5. Install the brake hose and retaining plate onto the strut.
6. Install the steering rod into the steering knuckle.
7. Install the ABS wheel sensor.
8. Tighten the hub lock nut to the required torque using the special tool.
9. Install the cotter pin.
Note: Replace the old cotter pin with a new one.
