Thrust bearing (Z100D90+B, B90SFJ90+B)
1. Press the support bearing into the housing using a punch (special tool).
2. Secure the support bearing with the circlip.
3. Press the thrust bearing assembly into the housing using a punch (special tool).
4. Secure the thrust bearing with the circlip.
5. Press in the boot using a brass pin and a flathead screwdriver.
Attention: Do not deform the anther when pressing.
From the side of the wheel (except B90)
1. Press the signal ring into the hinge assembly using a drift (special tool).
Caution: Replace the old sensor alarm ring with a new one.
2. Tape the spline of the drive shaft. Install the cover with clamps on the shaft.
Attention: Replace old clamps and cover with new ones.
3. Remove the tape wrapped around the shaft spline.
4. Place the ring clamp on the shaft. It should be tightly fixed in the groove on the shaft. Install the nut on the hinge and press it in with a wooden mallet.
Attention: Replace the old ring clamp with a new one.
5. Pack the body with grease from the wide side of the boot.
- Grease quantity: Model Z100: 140±5g
6. Fit the case firmly into the grooves (marked with *), as it shown on the picture.
Attention: If the seating surfaces of the boot (marked with *) there is grease on the hinge, the cover may come off. Remove all grease from seating surfaces.
7. Make sure the length of the case «L» fits the size below. Insert a screwdriver or similar tool under the cover from the narrow side. Purge the air from the case to avoid deformation.
- Boot installation length: Model Z100: 97±1 mm
Attention:
If the cover is shorter than the standard length, it may tear.
Do not touch the inside of the case with the tip of the screwdriver.
8. Fasten the cover on the narrow and wide sides with new clamps, as shown in the figure.
Turn the hinge and make sure that the cover does not slip out of place. Otherwise, reinstall boot clamps.
If the damper was removed, fix it with clamps, as shown in the figure, so that the dimensions from the side of the fixed hinge correspond to those indicated in the table.
Attention: Replace the damper with a new one.
Installation dimensions
Gearbox Side (Z100D90+B, Z100D90)
1. Insert the inner race from the larger diameter side of the bearing race.
2. Pack grease into the cavity of the bearing race, insert 6 balls. Put the clip on the shaft, turn it half a turn and fix it on the shaft.
3. Tape the spline of the drive shaft. Install the cover with clamps on the shaft.
Attention: Replace old clamps and cover with new ones.
4. Remove the tape wrapped around the shaft spline.
5. Assemble the race with the inner ring and steel balls on the shaft and secure tightly with the circlip.
Caution: Replace the old circlip with a new one.
6. Pack grease into the pivot housing (to the places marked with *) and slide the housing onto the shaft.
- Grease quantity: Model D90: 170±10g
7. Install retaining ring on body.
Attention: Replace the circlip with a new one.
8. After installation, pull on the shaft and check that the pivot assembly and retaining ring are secure.
9. Fit the cover firmly into the grooves (marked with *), as it shown on the picture.
Attention: If the seating surfaces of the boot (marked with *) there is grease on the hinge, the case may slip off. Remove all grease from seating surfaces.
10. Make sure that the installation length of the boot «L» fits the size below. Insert a screwdriver or similar tool under the cover from the narrow side. Purge the air from the case to avoid deformation.
- Cover installation length: Model D90: 98±1 mm
Attention:
If the installation length of the boot is less than the standard, the boot may tear.
Do not touch the inside of the case with the tip of the screwdriver.
11. Fasten the cover on the narrow and wide sides with new clamps, as shown in the figure.
Turn the hinge and make sure that the cover does not slip out of place. Otherwise, reinstall boot clamps.
Gearbox Side (Z100T86C, B90SFJ90+B, B90SFJ90), from the side of the transfer case (Z100T82F)
1. Model T82F: If the driveshaft plug was removed, press it in with a punch (special tool).
2. Tape the spline of the drive shaft. Install the cover with clamps on the shaft.
Attention: Replace old clamps and cover with new ones.
3. Remove the tape wrapped around the shaft spline.
4. Align the marks made before removing the cross assembly. Install the cross assembly with the chamfer on the splines towards the drive shaft.
5. Secure the cross assembly with the circlip.
Caution: Replace the old circlip with a new one.
6. Apply genuine Nissan grease (see spare parts list) on the cross assembly and the sliding surface.
7. Install the pivot housing onto the cross assembly. Adjust the amount of lubricant to the amount indicated below.
Amount of lubricant:
- Model T86S: 150±5g
- Model SFJ90: 215±10g
- Model T82F: 100+5g
8. Fit the case firmly into the grooves (marked with *), as it shown on the picture.
Attention: If the seating surfaces of the boot (marked with *) there is grease on the hinge, the case may slip off. Remove all grease from seating surfaces.
9. Make sure that the installation length of the boot «1» corresponds to the length indicated below. Insert a screwdriver or similar tool under the cover from the narrow side. Purge the air from the case to avoid deformation.
Cover installation length:
- Model T86S: 102.5±1 mm
- Model SFJ90: 98±1mm
- Model T82F: 96±1mm
Attention:
If the installation length of the boot is less than the standard, the boot may tear.
Do not touch the inside of the case with the tip of the screwdriver.
10. Fasten the cover on the narrow and wide sides with new clamps, as shown in the figure.
Turn the hinge and make sure that the cover does not slip out of place. Otherwise, reinstall boot clamps.
