Operation of diesel in winter (Nissan Sunny B13)

Fuel additives are not used in diesel engines, even in winter. When the ambient temperature drops, the fluidity of diesel fuel decreases due to paraffin deposits. Diesel fuel becomes thick as honey. For this reason, mineral oil manufacturers mix additives into diesel fuel in winter, increasing the fluidity of the fuel and ensuring engine start at ambient temperatures down to -15°C. However, at very low ambient temperatures, it may be necessary, especially if "summer" diesel fuel is poured into the tank, to mix in a little gasoline.

Addition of gasoline should be done, if possible, before the wax deposition process begins.

Mix only normal gasoline, not super gasoline.

Due to its easy flammability, to ensure safety, prepare the mixture only in the fuel tank of the car. In this case, if possible, first fill with normal gasoline and then diesel fuel.

Since adding gasoline reduces engine power, be sure to add only the amount of gasoline that is actually needed.

Example: With a total fuel quantity of 30 l, the proportion of normal fuel can be a maximum of 9 l (30%).

If the engine does not start due to thickened diesel fuel.

1. Tow the car to a warm garage.

2. Remove the fuel filter and warm it up in a hot water bath.
