The moment of the beginning of the injection pump supply can be checked on the installed or removed engine. This describes the test on the installed engine. To check, you will need a measuring device with a nozzle for installation in the pump.
Verification conditions
The toothed belt is tight.
The timing mechanism is adjusted correctly.
The engine has warmed up to operating temperature. The arrow of the coolant temperature gauge points to the middle of the scale.
Examination
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Turn the cold starter links clockwise.
3. Insert a small piece of wood (1), 15 mm thick between the cold start push rod and the drive rod.
4. Rotate the crankshaft two revolutions in the direction of engine rotation to bring the cold start device to normal.
5. Set the crankshaft to the TDC position of the piston of the 1st cylinder. For this white mark (2) should be opposite the arrow (3).
6. Loosen the union nuts of the high pressure fuel line on the pump with a socket wrench. While doing this, hold the valve with a simple wrench.
7. Remove the screw plug (test hole) on the cover of the injection pump.
8. Screw in instead of the plug the nozzle with the dial of the measuring device (measurement limits 0–3.0 mm) (4), for example, NISSAN KV-11.229.352.
9. Adjust the scale so that the pointer is between 1.0 and 2.0 mm.
10. Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise 20°–25°before TDC. Check that the nozzle is installed correctly. Set the scale of the measuring device to 0 mm.
11. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and set it to 9°after TDC. yellow label (1) stands now opposite the pointer (3) (see fig. higher). The measuring device should now show the stroke of the injection pump. Required value: 0.79-0.85 mm.
Attention! If the measured value is within the tolerance limits, no further adjustment is required. If a new adjustment is made, the value should be set to 0.82 mm.
Adjustment
1. If the measured value does not match the required value, slightly loosen the 4 fixing nuts and bolts of the injection pump.
2. Turn the pump until the gauge shows the desired value.
3. Measured value less than required: turn the pump housing away from the motor (5).
4. The measured value is greater than the required value: turn the pump housing towards the motor (6).
5. Tighten the bolts and nuts for fastening the injection pump alternately.
6. Recheck the feed start point, adjust if necessary.
7. Tighten the pump mounting nuts with a force of 15 N.m, and the bolts with a force of 55 Nm.
8. Turn out the nozzle with the measuring device and screw on the plug with a new gasket with a force of 15 Nm. If the plug is leaking, tighten up to 20 Nm.
9. Screw on the high pressure fuel lines with a force of 25 Nm.
10. Remove air from the fuel system.
