Removal
1. Remove the gearbox (see subsection 9.1).
2. Mark the position of the clutch on the flywheel.
3. Gradually loosen the bolts in a crosswise pattern.
4. Remove the clutch, paying attention to the position of the friction disc.
Examination
Attention! It is recommended to replace the entire clutch assembly with the release bearing, even if only individual parts need to be replaced.
1. Carefully clean the clutch by wiping it with an alcohol-based fluid.
2. Check the wear of the friction linings.
3. If the distance from the surface of the friction lining to the rivet heads is less than or equal to 0.3 mm, replace the friction linings.
4. Replacement of the linings is also required if traces of oil, signs of deformation, cracks, or traces of slippage are found on them.
5. Check the condition of the friction disc hub splines, springs, and the integrity of the rivets.
6. If traces of oil are found on the friction disc, find the cause and eliminate it before installing a new disc.
7. Check the condition of the pressure plate, check the strength of the rivet by shaking the plate.
8. If there are signs of overheating (bluish tint) or the diaphragm spring is weak, replace the clutch.
9. Check the condition of the ground surfaces of the pressure plate and flywheel.
10. Sand down minor defects; replace parts if they are severely damaged.
11. Check the condition of the release bearing; replace it if there are any defects.
Installation
1. Clean the flywheel and clutch surfaces thoroughly.
2. Install the friction disc so that the hub faces away from the flywheel.
3. While holding the friction disc, place the clutch basket assembly on the mounting pins, aligning the marks.
4. Tighten the bolts by hand.
5. Center the friction disc.
6. The disc can be centered by rotating the rod in the hub, resting against the flywheel hole, or using a special mandrel.
7. Tighten the clutch mounting bolts evenly and in several steps to the specified torque.
8. Lubricate the gearbox shaft splines and the fork axle with a thin layer of high-melting grease.
9. Install the gearbox.
