Seat back trim and padding
Disassembly
1. Unfasten the seat back fastener (on models with side airbag).
2. Remove the holder.
3. Roll up the seat back trim, unscrew the nuts (2) and remove the fixed inner cross bar (on models with side airbag).
4. Using pliers, etc., squeeze the hooks shown by the arrows in the figure and remove the headrest retainer from the seat back.
5. Remove the backrest trim and padding from the seat back frame.
Assembly
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
Caution: Before installing the headrest retainer, check its direction (front/rear and right/left).
Seat back frame
Disassembly
1. Remove the seat back trim and padding.

2. Disconnect the side airbag connector from the back of the seat cushion.
3. Remove the seat lift lever, tilt handle, seat track outer trim, seat track inner cover, and seat track inner trim.
4. Remove the seat back frame bolts and remove it from the seat guide assembly.
Caution: Wear gloves to protect your hands and seat cushion when removing and installing.
5. Remove the seat trim and padding.
6. Remove the side airbag module. See chapter Additional passive safety system.
7. Remove the seat guide inner trim.
8. Remove the retaining spring washer from the recline shaft, then remove the shaft and pulley from the seatback frame.
9. Remove the mounting bolts from the seat back frame, then remove the frame.
10. Remove the active headrest protective cover, then unscrew the mounting bolt and remove the active headrest (if any).
Assembly
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
Caution: After assembling the seat back frame, make sure the tilt mechanism works properly.
