ISOFIX fastening system
Some child seats are equipped with two attachment points, which can be fixed to the seat either rigidly or with straps. This fastening system is known as ISOFIX or ISOFIX compatible. This system allows you not to use a regular seat belt for attaching a child seat. Your car is equipped with special fasteners that allow the installation of child seats that are unified with the ISOFIX system. Check on the marking on the child seat whether it is unified with the ISOFIX anchorage system. Information about this can also be given in the instruction manual for the child seat. If the child seat is equipped with the ISOFIX anchorage system, refer to the illustration for the location of the anchor points that can be used to install the child seat.
ISOFIX anchor points located behind the rear seat cushion (at the base of the back), see picture. Labels are attached to the back of the rear seat to help you locate the ISOFIX mounting points.
When installing a child seat with ISOFIX unified anchorages on the anchor points located in the rear seat, do the following:
- Check the ISOFIX anchor points in the rear seat. To do this, put your hand behind the rear seat cushion and make sure that the ISOFIX fasteners are not covered by anything (e.g. belt webbing or seat upholstery). The child seat cannot be properly secured if the anchor points are difficult to access.
- 1. To install an ISOFIX child seat, insert the clips into the anchor points located on the rear seat. For instructions on how to use the webbing, see paragraph below. «Upper child restraint strap».
- 2. Install guide elements (which can be supplied with the ISOFIX seat) onto the vehicle's ISOFIX mounting brackets located on the side at the base of the rear seat cushion.
- 3. After installing the child restraint and before placing the child in it, rock the restraint vigorously from side to side and pull it forward to check that it is secure. Make sure both ISOFIX mounts are securely fastened.
- 4. The attachment of the child seat should be checked before each use.
When installing a forward facing ISOFIX child seat in the rear seat, move the front passenger seat as far forward as possible and the rear seat as far back as possible.
When installing a rear-facing ISOFIX child seat, move the front passenger seat all the way back and slide the rear seat all the way forward.
Upper child seat strap
The top strap of the child seat must be attached to the appropriate anchor point.
Attach the upper child restraint strap to the anchor point as shown in the illustration.
Location of anchor fasteners
Anchor fasteners are located on the base of the rear seat back (from the luggage compartment).
