Towing Precautions
When preparing the vehicle for towing, check that the transmission, wheels, suspension and steering are in good condition. If there is damage to the chassis or transmission that prevents the vehicle from being safely towed, use a support cart or load the vehicle onto a flatbed tow truck.
Towing a car with a manual transmission supported by the front wheels. Place the shift lever in neutral, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, and secure the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position using a belt or other harness. Do not leave the ignition key in the LOCK position. This can lead to breakage of the steering lock.
If the vehicle is towed on its rear wheels, the parking brake must be off.
Always use safety chains when towing your vehicle.
Recommended towing methods
It is recommended to tow the vehicle without support on the drive (front) wheels or by fully loading the vehicle onto a flatbed tow truck.
Attention: It is forbidden to tow cars with automatic transmission relying on the drive (front) or all wheel (forward or backward), as this can lead to serious damage to the gearbox and costly repairs. If the vehicle cannot be towed on the rear wheels, the front wheels must always be supported by the dolly.
