Check the neutral position of the steering wheel after adjusting the steering wheel alignment angles.
1. Make sure the steering gear assembly, steering column and steering wheel are installed in the correct position.
2. Set the vehicle wheels to the straight-ahead position and check that the steering wheel is in the center position.
3. If the steering wheel position is different from neutral, loosen the lock nut of the outer tie rod socket and turn the inner tie rod to adjust it left or right accordingly.
Note: The maximum allowable length L of the steering rod after adjustment: 106 mm.
Checking the steering wheel effort
1. Place the vehicle on a level and dry surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Check the tire pressure and, if necessary, bring it up to standard.
3. Start the engine.
4. Check the steering wheel force after turning the steering wheel 540° from the neutral position using a suitable tool as shown in the figure. It should not exceed 7 N.
Note: Multiply the distance (L) in meters from the spring dynamometer hook to the center of the steering wheel by the obtained value of applied force to obtain the torque value.
Checking the front wheel steering angles
Note: All values are given in the "Service Data and Specification" section at the end of the chapter.
Check the steering angles of the steering wheels after checking their installation angles:
1. Place the front wheels on a special stand to check the turning angles, and the rear wheels on supports. Check the maximum inner and outer turning angles of the left and right wheels.
2. Start the engine at idle speed and, turning the steering wheel from lock to lock from left to right, measure the turning angles "A" and "B".

3. If the rotation angles exceed the set values, check the following parameters:
Check the neutral position of the L rack.
Note: Dimension L with steering rack in neutral position: 77.5 mm.
If necessary, disassemble the steering mechanism to identify the reason for the rack exceeding the nominal stroke.
Note: Steering angles are not adjustable. Check the steering gear assembly, steering column assembly, and front suspension components for wear or damage if any of the steering angles are out of specification. Replace any component if it is not within specification.
