Removing
1. Set the wheels of the vehicle to the straight ahead position.
2. Loosen the intermediate shaft bolt (from the underside), and then remove the intermediate shaft from the steering gear shaft.
3. Remove the wheels from the vehicle using a power line.
4. Using a special puller, remove the tie rod ends so as not to damage the anthers of the ball joints.
Attention. Temporarily start the nuts to prevent damage to the threads and accidental slipping of the puller.
5. Remove the front subframe.
6. Remove the steering gear assembly.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following features.
Attention. The contact disc may limit the steering wheel rotation range if incorrectly reassembled after the steering column and steering gear have been disengaged. Make sure the steering column is securely locked against turning.
Perform the final tightening of threaded connections with an unladen vehicle standing on the ground.
Check the wheel alignment and adjust the neutral position of the steering angle sensor.
Check after installation
Rotate the steering wheel from lock to lock to make sure it turns freely.
Check the play and neutral position of the steering wheel, the force applied to the steering wheel, as well as the angles of rotation of the steered wheels.
