Lever travel
By pressing the parking brake lever with a force of 196 N (20 kg), check that the lever stroke is the specified number of clicks (check ratchet clicks by ear).
- Lever travel: 6-7 clicks.
Checking the effectiveness of the parking brake
On the brake test bench, check whether the rear wheel braking force reaches the specified value.
- Brake force: 20% of vehicle weight or more.
- Pedal force: below 390 N (40 kg).
Adjustment
1. Insert a socket wrench, turn the self-locking nut, then completely loosen the cable, release the lever and adjust the rear brake shoe clearances.
2. While pressing the lever, clicks should be heard inside the brake (the sound of the controller).
3. Turn the road wheels and make sure they do not stick.
4. After adjusting the clearance in the rear brake pads (when the rear brake does not engage) adjust the cable in the following order:
(1) Raise the lever so that the socket wrench can be inserted.
(2) Insert a socket wrench into the lever hole, turn the self-locking nut and adjust the lever travel.
Caution: Do not reuse the self-locking nut. After removing it, replace it with a new one.
(3) Raise and lower the lever 3-4 times with a force of 196 N (20 kg). Make sure the lever stroke is the specified number of clicks.
(4) Fully release the parking brake lever. Make sure the rear brake does not stick.
