Disassembly
1. Remove the fuel level sensor.
(1) In order not to be mistaken during subsequent assembly, put alignment marks on the sensor and fuel filter rim. Apply marks so that they are not washed off by fuel.
(2) Tilt the fuel level sensor so that you can release the latches securing the O-ring.
Note: The O-ring isolates the fuel level sensor from the fuel tank.
(3) Pull the sensor out of the fuel filter.
(4) Disconnect the wiring connector and remove the sensor.
2. Separate the fuel filter and fuel pump.
(1) In order not to be mistaken during subsequent assembly, put alignment marks on the filter and the rim of the pump bracket. Apply marks so that they are not washed off by fuel.
(2) Using a screwdriver, pry up the latches in four places as shown in the figure, release the latches and separate the filter and pump.
Assembly
Assembly is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly, taking into account the following:
Install the fuel pump side gasket as shown in the illustration at the beginning of this section.
Tighten the fuel pump wiring connector tightly.
Install the fuel level sensor and the fuel pump on the bracket, matching the alignment marks. Insert so that the latches lock into place with an audible click.
