Attention! During assembly, the following must be replaced: axle shaft nut, inner CV joint retaining ring, all removed cotter pins, lower ball joint nuts.
1. Check the condition of the axle shaft seal; it is recommended to replace the seal.
2. Thoroughly clean the axle shaft splines, lubricate the splines and the lip of the oil seal.
3. Check the reliability of the fastening of the cover clamps.
4. Replace the inner snap ring (which was subject to deformation during removal).
5. When installing the axle shaft, be careful not to damage the seal.
6. By lubricating the seal and splines, the axle shaft can be installed without using any tools.
Right half shaft on early production vehicles (intermediate support is missing)
7. Carefully, without damaging the seal, insert the axle shaft into the differential.
8. Engage the splines with the splines of the drive gear, press on the axle shaft so that the retaining ring enters the groove of the drive gear.
9. Make sure the ring fits into the groove by vigorously rocking the axle shaft.
Right half shaft on vehicles with intermediate support
10. Carefully, without damaging the seal, insert the axle shaft into the differential, passing it through the window in the bracket.
11. Align the bolt holes and insert the bearing housing.
12. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
Left half shaft on all vehicles except those equipped with automatic transmission
13. The procedure is the same as when installing the right axle shaft.
Left half shaft on vehicles with automatic transmission
14. The procedure is the same as when installing the right axle shaft. First install the left axle shaft, then the right axle shaft.
All cars
15. Lubricate the outer splines of the axle shaft and insert into the hub.
16. Put on the washer and tighten the new nut.
17. Insert the ball joint into the journal and tighten the nut to the specified torque.
18. Attach the tie rod end and tighten the nut.
19. Tighten the tie rod nut until the cotter pin can be inserted without exceeding the specified tightening torque.
20. Secure the nut with a cotter pin.
21. Install the brake caliper.
22. Tighten the new axle nut to the specified torque while holding the hub from turning.

23. Install a new crown lock washer, aligning the cotter pin groove with the hole in the axle shaft, and secure with the cotter pin.
24. Install the wheels, lower the car.
25. Fill the crankcase with oil/transmission fluid.
