Note. Steering column components are shown in the illustration Steering column. Disassembly of the steering column is not allowed; if there is a malfunction, replace the steering column assembly.
1. Remove the steering wheel, driver airbag unit and coil spring.
2. Remove all collars and disconnect sockets of electroconducting on assembly of a steering column.
3. Turn out a bolt of fastening of an intermediate shaft to the steering mechanism and disconnect a shaft from the mechanism.
4. Give nuts of fastening of a steering column and make sure that it moves freely.
5. Separate a socket of electroconducting e/amplifier (EPAS) and remove the steering column assembly from the vehicle.
6. Turn out a bolt and disconnect an intermediate shaft from a steering column.
Note. Do not rotate the shaft more than 360 degrees so as not to disturb the operation of the EPAS control unit.
7. To check, measure the length of the steering column and the force of its rotation (see Specifications). If necessary, replace the steering column assembly.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Do not change the relative position of the shaft mounting bolts and nuts. Before finally tightening the fastener, finger-tight it and make sure there are no binding or sticking components.
9. After installation, check the operation of the steering.
