2. Remove the side plugs and unscrew the bolts located underneath them.

Note: The bolts can be discarded as they cannot be reused.

3. Disconnect the steering wheel auxiliary wiring harness connector and the air bag unit wiring harness connector.
4. Remove the airbag unit and place it face up.
Note: Disassembling the airbag unit is not allowed.
Caution! Do not expose the airbag unit to temperatures above 90 degrees, or allow oil, grease or water to enter it. If the airbag unit is subjected to an impact (for example, if it was dropped) replace it.

5. Set the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position and disconnect the horn and coil spring connectors.

6. Unscrew the steering wheel mounting bolt and remove it using a special tool.
7. If it is necessary to remove the coil spring, remove the steering column covers (see Chapter Body and illustration Coil Spring Installation Components) and steering column paddle shifters (see Chapter On-board electrical equipment). Then unscrew the 2 screws and, pressing the plastic tab of the retainer, remove the coil spring.

8. Disconnect the horn and coil spring wiring connectors from the coil spring.
9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Finally, diagnose the SRS system.
