Components
1. Cotter pin; 2. Brake light switch; 3. Clamp; 4. Brake pedal assembly; 5. Pin
Attention:
- Do not deform the brake pipe.
- When removing and installing, do not strike the brake pedal assembly against adjacent components.
Removal
1. Remove the lower instrument panel trim. See Chapter Body.
2. Remove the wiring clamp and disconnect the connector from the accelerator pedal. See Chapter Accelerator, fuel, exhaust system.
3. Disconnect the connector from the brake light switch and unscrew the brake light switch from the brake pedal assembly (turn 45°).
3. Remove the cotter pin and stud from the brake booster clevis.
4. Unscrew the pedal mounting nuts and remove the brake pedal assembly from the vehicle, moving the master cylinder and brake booster towards the engine compartment and being careful not to deform the brake pipe.
6. Remove the accelerator pedal from the brake pedal assembly.

Check after removal
Check for any bending, damage or cracks in the welded areas. If any abnormalities are found, replace the brake pedal.
Caution: The brake pedal is equipped with a collision warning system.
In the event of a severe collision and the system being activated, the brake pedal axis is moved rearward, causing the brake pedal pad to move into the footwell away from the driver.
If the shear rivet (2) of the emergency system breaks as a result of a collision (left hand drive models), replace the pedal assembly.
In the event of a severe collision and the system being activated, the brake pedal shaft (1) is moved rearward, causing the brake pedal pad to move into the footwell away from the driver.

If the shear rivet (1) of the emergency system breaks as a result of a collision (right hand drive models) or the locking sliding plate (2) is unlocked, replace the pedal assembly.

Installation
For tightening torques, see section "Components". Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
After installing the brake pedal assembly on the vehicle, adjust it. See section "Brake pedal".
