Removal and installation
1. To remove the parking brake cable, first remove the center console.
2. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.
3. Loosen the bolts and remove the adjusting nut.
4. For disc brakes: remove the locking plate and disconnect the cable. For drum brakes: see section "Rear wheel drum brakes", "Removal".
Adjustment
Before starting adjustment (and also after its completion) always check the following:
In rear disc brakes, the manual brake pad release lever must return to the stop after releasing the parking brake lever.

After releasing the parking brake lever, there should be no braking at all.
1. Adjust the clearance between the brake shoes and drum/disc as follows.
Release the parking brake lever and loosen the adjusting nut

Fully depress the brake pedal at least 10 times with the engine running.
2. Tighten the lever by 4-5 teeth and tighten the adjusting nut.
3. Applying a force of 196 N (20 kgf) to the lever handle, count the number of fixed positions that the lever passes through:

4. By bending the base of the switch, ensure that the parking brake indicator lights up when the lever is tightened no more than 1 tooth of the lock.
