Removal
1. Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke according to the marks on the crankshaft pulley (see section "Timing drive CD engines").
2. Remove the air duct with the resonator and the timing belt cover.
3. Loosen the tension roller lock nut and turn the roller clockwise to release tension. Then temporarily tighten the nut.
4. Remove the timing belt.
Installation
1. Make sure that the piston of the 1st cylinder is at TDC of the compression stroke. If the fuel injection pump pulley was removed, it must be installed as shown in the figure.
2. Put on the timing belt.
The white lines on the belt should match the marks stamped on the camshaft and fuel injection pump pulleys.
The arrow on the timing belt should point towards the belt cover.
3. Adjust the belt tension as follows:
- a) Loosen the tension roller lock nut. The required tension will be set automatically.
- b) Turn the crankshaft clockwise two turns. Do not turn the crankshaft by the camshaft pulleys.
- c) Tighten the lock nut while holding the tension roller with a screwdriver.
Belt tension - 147±49 Nm (15±5 kgf)
