Check after removal
Check the drive chain link plates and rollers for cracks (A) and signs of wear (B). If necessary, replace the chain with a new one.
Post-installation check
Perform the procedure to check for leaks of lubricants, operating fluids or exhaust gases:
Before starting the engine, check the levels of all operating fluids (motor oil, coolant, etc.). If necessary, bring fluid levels back to normal.
Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position (without starting the engine). Pressure will begin to build up in the fuel lines, check for fuel leaks in the connections.
Start the engine. Increase the engine speed and check again for fuel leaks at the connections.
With the engine running, check for extraneous noise and vibration.
Note: Due to the loss of oil pressure in the chain tensioners during removal/installation, the tensioner guides may make knocking sounds during and immediately after starting the engine. This is not a sign of a malfunction. The noise will stop after the pressure reaches the required level.
Warm up the engine thoroughly and check for leaks of fuel, engine oil or other operating fluids.
Remove air from hydraulic systems.
After the engine has cooled down, check the operating fluid levels again. If necessary, top up the fluids to the required level.
