2. Install camshafts:
Clean the camshaft journals of foreign material.
The intake and exhaust camshafts are distinguished by different front and rear shapes or identification colors (A) And (IN).
1. Exhaust camshaft.
2. Intake camshaft.
Install the camshafts so that the alignment marks (A) in their front part were in the position indicated in the figure.
1. Exhaust camshaft.
2. Intake camshaft.
Note. Even if the camshafts do not stop in the position shown in the figure, it is extremely important to install them in this position.
3. Install the camshaft bracket:
Completely remove foreign material from the back of the camshaft bracket and from the cylinder head mounting surfaces.
Apply sealant (A) on the camshaft bracket, as shown in the figure.
A. Sealant bead.
B. Inner wall of the plug hole.
The white arrow points towards the front of the engine.
The black arrow points towards the inside of the engine.
Note. Use original sealant or equivalent.
Tighten the camshaft bracket bolts in several stages in the sequence shown in the figure:
The arrow indicates the side of the front of the engine.
Note.
Two types of mounting bolts are used:
- Bolts M6 (thread length 57.5 mm): 113, 14 and 15 in the picture.
- Bolts Mb (thread length 35.0 mm): other.
1) Tighten the bolts in sequence to 1.96 Nm.
2) Tighten the bolts in sequence to 5.88 Nm.
3) Tighten the bolts in sequence to 9.5 Nm.
Note. After tightening the bolts of the camshaft bracket, it is necessary to remove all excess sealant from the joints of the cylinder head.
4. Install the intake camshaft sprocket:
Install the sprocket by carefully aligning the locating pin with the hole and following the mark made during removal.
1. Bracket for camshafts.
2. Intake camshaft sprocket.
The arrow indicates the side of the front of the engine.
Tighten the mounting bolt in two stages, holding the camshaft by the hex part with a wrench:
1) Tighten the bolt to 35.0 Nm.
2) Tighten the bolt clockwise by 67° (stretching to the corner).
1. Intake camshaft sprocket.
A. Intake camshaft hex.
Note. Use for tightening on the corner of the corner wrench (KV10112100) (IN). Do not tighten the bolt «approximately».
5. Install the exhaust camshaft sprocket (2), while holding the camshaft by the hex (A) wrench.
1. Intake camshaft sprocket.
2. An asterisk of a final camshaft.
6. Install the timing chain and related parts.
7. Check and adjust valve clearance.
8. Install the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal.
