Removal
Chain tensioner
1. Drain the engine oil and remove the filter (see subsection 2.2.1). If the filter is damaged during removal, replace the filter.
2. Remove the two nuts and pull the chain tensioner out from the rear of the cylinder head. Remove the O-ring.
Attention! When removing the tensioner, the crankshaft must not rotate.

3. Remove the chain drive cover (see subsection 3.2.1.6).
4. Remove the chain tensioner.
5. Loosen and unscrew the bolts, remove the damper.
Chain tensioner shoe
6. Remove the chain drive cover (see subsection 3.2.1.6). 7. Loosen the chain tensioner shoe axle bolt and remove the shoe from the cylinder block.
8. Remove the chain tensioner.
9. Loosen the shoe axle bolt and remove the shoe.
Top guide
10. Remove the cylinder head cover (see subsection 3.2.1.4).
11. Loosen the bolts and remove the guide from the cylinder head.
Chain sprockets
12. Remove the chain and camshaft sprockets (see subsection 3.2.1.7). If the chain will not be removed, then unscrew the sprocket bolts from both camshafts (see p.9 of subsection 3.2.1.7), apply identification marks to the gears so that they can be installed in their original positions during assembly.
Checking the status
Cm. subsection 3.2.1.7.
Installation
Chain tensioner
1. Make sure the tensioner and cylinder head cover mating surfaces are clean.

2. Release the tensioner lock lever (1), press the plunger into the housing and fix it in this position with the hook, placing it on the plunger pin (2).

3. Install a new gasket on the tensioner flange and place a new sealing ring in the housing groove.

4. Install the tensioner, making sure the arrow on the flange points away from the cylinder head. Install the washers and tighten the tensioner nuts to the specified torque. Once the nuts are tightened, the mounting hook should automatically disengage from the pin, releasing the plunger.

6. Install the tensioner (see pp. 1–4).
7. Install the chain drive cover (see subsection 3.2.1.6).
Chain tensioner shoe
8. Install the chain tensioner shoe onto the cylinder block and tighten the axle bolt to the specified torque.
9. Install the tensioner (see pp. 1–4).
10. Install the chain drive cover (see subsection 3.2.1.6).
Top guide
11. Install the upper chain guide onto the cylinder head and tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
12. Install the cylinder head cover (see subsection 3.2.1.4).
Chain drive sprockets
13. Install the chain and sprockets (see subsection 3.2.1.7).
14. If the chain has not been removed, then put the sprockets on the corresponding camshafts, using the marks applied during disassembly as a guide. When assembling, make sure that the marks applied exactly match. Tighten the sprocket bolts, putting washers on them and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
