General description
If there is a problem with the CVT electrical system, after turning the ignition key to the ON position for 2 seconds. the SPORT indicator lights up and then flashes for 8 seconds. If there are no faults, the indicator lights up for 2 seconds and then goes out. Information about malfunctions is output from the memory after the start signal of the self-diagnosis mode. By flashing the SPORT indicator, you can determine the location of the failed component.
In addition, if the indicator continues to flash at a frequency of 1 Hz after the self-diagnosis is completed, this indicates a malfunction of the control unit. If the flashing does not stop after turning the ignition key to the ON-OFF positions, replace the control unit.
Description of the operation of the self-diagnosis function
1. Warm up the engine to operating temperature.
2. Turn the ignition key to the ON position, then to the OFF position. Repeat twice, then turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
3. Move the selector lever to position P, turn the ignition key to the ON position, check if the light comes on for 2 seconds. SPORT indicator.
4. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
5. Press the brake pedal to the stop, fully release the accelerator pedal, move the selector lever to position D.
6. Manually fully close the throttle, turn the ignition key to the ON position.
Note: The throttle valve remains open until the work described up to point 6. Work with a partner.
7. Remove your hand from the throttle.
8. Release the brake pedal, move the selector lever to position L.
9. While fully depressing the brake and accelerator pedals, move the selector lever to position D.
10. Read the trouble codes by flashing the SPORT indicator, self-diagnosis is completed.
Flashing Sport indicator
The pulse of the faulty circuit has a long duration.
Erasing fault codes
Fault codes are stored in the memory of the control unit during vehicle operation. The state of the memory is not affected by the position of the ignition key. However, upon completion of the self-diagnosis procedure after turning the ignition key to the OFF position, the codes are erased from memory. It is also possible to erase fault codes from memory using CONSULT.
* 1: If flashing at 4 Hz is repeated, then the memory backup power supply is defective, in this case, the CVT control unit must be replaced. This situation is also possible when the battery has not been used for a long time or when the battery has reached the end of its service life.
*2: If the indicator continues to flash at a frequency of 1 Hz after the self-diagnosis is completed, this indicates a malfunction of the control unit.
