CVT operation in emergency mode
If a fault occurs in the sensors, switches and solenoids listed below, the CVT may enter emergency mode.
Secondary pulley speed sensor
If this sensor fails, its signal is replaced by the signal from the throttle sensor. In addition, the inclusion of the sports mode is blocked, the movement occurs in the D range.
Primary pulley speed sensor
If this sensor fails, its signal is replaced by the throttle valve sensor signal and the secondary pulley speed sensor signal. In addition, the sport mode is blocked, and the vehicle moves in the D range.
Throttle Position Sensor
If this sensor is faulty, the control unit uses signals from the idle switch and the fully open throttle switch and sets the throttle opening degree based on them, see table.
Range switch
If the control unit receives two or more signals from the range switch, the control unit selects one of the positions D, N, L and R depending on the priority determined inside the unit. If the control unit does not receive a signal at all, movement occurs in the D range.
Oil temperature sensor
If the control unit receives an abnormal signal from this sensor, switching occurs under the conditions immediately preceding the receipt of the abnormal signal or in such a way that the engine speed is below 5000/min.
Line pressure sensor
If the control unit receives an abnormal signal from this sensor, the feedback pressure regulation is stopped. The pressure is regulated based on the value received immediately before the abnormal signal.
Line pressure control solenoid
If the control unit receives an abnormal signal from this solenoid, it is switched off and the maximum pressure in the line is set.
Torque Converter Clutch Lockup Solenoid
If the control unit receives an abnormal signal from this solenoid, it is switched off and the torque converter lock-up is released.
Stepper motor
If an abnormal signal is received by the control unit from this motor, the phase A-D coil of the motor is disconnected, and switching occurs under the conditions immediately preceding the receipt of the abnormal signal.
Engine RPM signal
If the control unit receives an abnormal engine speed signal, the line pressure is adjusted based on the throttle opening degree. In addition, the torque converter lockup is released.
