Front brake discs
Discs are changed only in pairs and with a set of pads.
Examination
1. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.
2. Remove the wheels.
3. Rotate slowly to check the condition of the disc and remove the pads if necessary.
4. The disk must be replaced if it has cracks or signs of deep wear.
5. If a ridge has formed on the disc due to wear, then it is necessary to measure the thickness of the disc.
6. The thickness is measured in several places, both at the point of contact with the pads and along the edge.
7. If the thickness in the areas of wear is equal to the limit or less, the disk must be replaced.
8. Check the hub bearing adjustment, then check the disc runout using an indicator or by placing feeler gauges, for example, between the disc and the caliper bracket.
9. If the runout exceeds the norm, remove the disk, turn it over and reinstall it on the hub.
10. If the runout again exceeds the norm, replace the disk.
11. Check the condition of the disk at the attachment points and for damage in other places.
Removal
1. Raise the car and remove the wheel.
2. Unscrew the two bolts on the caliper bracket, remove the caliper, move it to the side and secure it.
3. If the disk is not going to be changed, then mark the relative orientation on the disk and hub.
4. Remove the disc from the wheel mounting studs.
5. If the disk cannot be removed, move it by evenly screwing the M8 bolts into the special threaded holes.
Installation
1. Clean the mating surfaces of the hub and disc.
2. Install the disk by aligning the marks applied (if a removed disk is installed).
3. Remove the preservative from the new disc.
4. Install the caliper, tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
5. Press the brake pedal several times.
6. Install the wheel, lower the car. Check the brakes before driving off.
Rear brake discs
Discs are changed only in pairs and with a set of pads.
Examination
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands.
2. Remove the wheels.
3. Release the handbrake.
4. Follow the steps described above. If the pads are to be removed, follow the description in subsection 11.4.2.
Removal
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands.
2. Remove the wheels.
3. Loosen the bolts and remove the handbrake cable bracket.
4. Disconnect the cable from the lever on the caliper (on some vehicles, remove the cable sheath from the bracket).
5. Follow the steps described above.
Installation
1. Follow the steps described above.
2. Attach the cable to the lever.
3. On some vehicles, insert the cable sheath into the bracket and align the protrusion on the bracket with the recess on the caliper body.
4. Apply the handbrake until the desired clearance is established between the pads and the disc.
5. Press the brake pedal several times.
6. Install the wheel, lower the car.
7. Check the operation of the brakes before leaving.
