Testing on the move — part 3 (Nissan Note E11)

1. Check the downshift (from "D ₁ " to "D ₃ ") (using the upshift button)

1. Press the upshift button (the "O/D OFF" indicator does not light).

2. Move the selector lever to position "D".

3. Accelerate the vehicle to the "D ₄ " range by pressing the accelerator pedal halfway.



4. Release the accelerator pedal.



5. Press the upshift button (the "O/D OFF" indicator lights up).

Using the CONSULT-II tester

Calculate the gear range and vehicle speed.

Does the automatic transmission switch from "D ₄ " to "D ₃ " ("O/D OFF")?
Yes - Proceed to step 2.
No - Continue road test.

2. Check engine braking

Does engine braking slow down a car?
Yes - Proceed to step 3.
No - Continue road test.

3. Check downshifting (from "D ₃ " to "2 ₂ ")

Move the selector lever from the "D" position to the "2" position while driving in the "D ₃ " ("O/D OFF") range.

Using the CONSULT-II tester

Read the gear range.



Does the automatic transmission switch from "D ₃ " ("O/D OFF") to "D ₂ "?

Yes - Proceed to step 4.
No - Continue road test.

4. Check engine braking

Does engine braking slow down a car?
Yes - Proceed to step 5.
No - Continue road test.

5. Check downshifting (From "2 ₂ " TO "1 ₁ ")

Move the selector lever from position "2" to position "1" while driving in the "2 ₂ " range.

Using the CONSULT-II tester

Read the gear range.



Does the automatic transmission switch from "2 ₂ " to "1 ₁ "?
Yes - Proceed to step 6.
No - Continue road test.

6. Check engine braking

Does engine braking slow down a car?

Yes -

• 1. Stop the car
• 2. Perform self-diagnosis. See section "Self-diagnosis (without using the CONSULT-II tester)".

No - Continue road test.
