1. Check the car starts moving from the "D ₁ " position
1. Drive the vehicle for approximately 10 minutes and warm up the engine oil and automatic transmission fluid to operating temperature.
Operating temperature of automatic transmission fluid: 50-80°C.
2. Stop the car on a level surface.
3. Press the upshift button (the "O/D OFF" indicator does not light).
4. Move the selector lever to position "P".

5. Start the engine.
6. Move the selector lever to position "D".

7. Accelerate the car by pressing the accelerator pedal halfway.

Using the CONSULT-II tester, read the gear range.
Does the car move from the "D ₁ " position?
Yes - Proceed to step 2.
No - Continue road test.
2. Check the upshift (From "D ₁ " to "D ₂ ")
Press the accelerator pedal halfway and check whether the automatic transmission shifts from "D ₁ " to "D ₂ " at the set speed.

See section "The speed at which a vehicle changes gears"
Using the CONSULT-II tester
Check the gear range, throttle angle and vehicle speed.
Does the automatic transmission shift from "D ₁ " to "D ₂ " at a given speed?
Yes - Proceed to step 3.
No - Continue road test
3. Check the upshift (from "D ₂ " to "D ₃ ")
Press the accelerator pedal halfway and check whether the automatic transmission shifts from "D ₂ " to "D ₃ " at the set speed.

See section "The speed at which a vehicle changes gears".
Using the CONSULT-II tester
Check the gear range, throttle angle and vehicle speed.
Does the automatic transmission switch from "D ₂ " to "D ₃ " at a given speed?
Yes - Proceed to step 4.
No - Continue road test.
4. Check the upshift (from "D ₃ " to "D ₄ ")
Press the accelerator pedal halfway and check whether the automatic transmission shifts from "D ₃ " to "D ₄ " at the set speed.

See section "The speed at which a vehicle changes gears".
Using the CONSULT-II tester
Check the gear range, throttle angle and vehicle speed.
Does the automatic transmission switch from "D ₃ " to "D ₄ " at a given speed?
Yes - Proceed to step 5.
No - Continue road test.
5. Check the lock from "D ₄ " to "D ₄ with lock"
Press the accelerator pedal halfway and check if the automatic transmission shifts from "D ₄ " to "D4 with lock" at a given speed.

See the section "Vehicle speed at which gear shifting occurs".
Using the CONSULT-II tester
Check the vehicle speed, throttle opening angle at 94% lock
Does the automatic transmission lock at a set speed?
Yes - Proceed to step 6.
No - Continue road test
6. Check the lock retention
Using the CONSULT-II tester
Check the hold when blocking 94%
Does the automatic transmission maintain the lock state for more than 30 seconds?
(See the original on the resource NISSANBOOK.RU)
Yes - Proceed to step 7.
No - Continue road test.
7. Check the release of the lock (from "D ₄ with lock" to "D ₄ ")
Release the accelerator pedal.
Using the CONSULT-II tester
Check the removal at 4% blocking.
Does the lock release when you release the accelerator pedal?
Yes - Proceed to step 8.
No - Continue road test.
8. Check downshift (from "D ₄ " to "D ₃ ")
Slow the car by pressing the brake pedal lightly.

Using the CONSULT-II tester
Calculate the gear range and vehicle speed.
Does the engine return smoothly to idle speed when the automatic transmission is switched from "D ₄ " to "D ₃ "?
Yes -
- 1. Stop the car.
- 2. Proceed to "Testing in Motion - Part 2"
No - Continue road test.
