Attention.
- Before checking the deflection of the newly installed belt, its tension must be adjusted. Turn the crankshaft at least two revolutions, adjust the deflection again to the nominal value to eliminate the belt tension fault between the pulleys.
- Tighten the tensioner pulley lock nut by hand and check the belt tension with the nut tightened.
- When installing a new belt, adjust the tension according to the technical specifications in the "New Belt" column to compensate for its poor fit to the pulley grooves.
- When the sag or tension exceeds the value specified in the "Limit Value" column, adjust the tension according to the data in the "After Adjustment" column.
- Before checking the deflection of the newly installed belt, its tension must be adjusted. Turn the crankshaft at least two revolutions, adjust the deflection again to the nominal value to eliminate uneven belt tension between the pulleys.
- When installing the belt, check that it fits correctly on the pulley grooves.
- Avoid contact of engine oil, power steering fluid and coolant with the belt and pulleys.
- Do not twist or bend the belt.
1. Loosen the lock nut (A) of the idler pulley by turning it 45° from the set position.
1. Generator.
2. Water pump.
3. Crankshaft pulley.
4. Air conditioning compressor drive pulley (models with air conditioning system) or intermediate pulley (models without air conditioning).
5. Tension pulley.
6. Drive belt.
A. Idler pulley lock nut.
B. Adjusting bolt.
Attention.
- If the lock nut is completely loosened, it will not be possible to set the correct tension on the drive belt using the idler pulley. Never loosen the lock nut completely (more than 45°).
- Place a timing mark on the lock nut and check the rotation angle with a protractor. Never determine the rotation angle of the lock nut "by eye".

2. Adjust the drive belt tension by turning the adjusting bolt.
Attention.
- If the tension check is carried out immediately after installation, it is necessary to first adjust it to the set value. Then, after turning the crankshaft two revolutions, adjust it again so that the belt is installed in the working position on the engine pulleys.
- When adjusting the drive belt tension, the idler pulley lock nut must be in the position described in step 1. If it is completely loosened, the tension cannot be adjusted.
3. Tighten the idler pulley lock nut to a torque of 34.8 Nm.
