Attention.
- Before checking the deflection of a newly installed belt, it is necessary to adjust its tension. Rotate the crankshaft at least two revolutions, adjust the deflection back to the nominal value to eliminate the belt tension fault between the pulleys.
- Tighten the tensioner pulley lock nut by hand and check the belt tension with the nut tightened.
- When installing a new belt, adjust the tension according to the specifications of the column "New belt", to compensate for its poor fit to the pulley grooves.
- When the deflection or tension exceeds the value indicated in the column "Limit value", adjust the tension according to the data in the column "After adjustment".
- Before checking the deflection of a newly installed belt, it is necessary to adjust its tension. Rotate the crankshaft at least two turns, adjust the deflection again to the nominal value to eliminate uneven belt tension between the pulleys.
- When installing the belt, check that it fits correctly on the pulley grooves.
- Do not allow engine oil, power steering fluid and coolant to come into contact with the belt and pulleys.
- Do not twist or bend the belt.
1. Loosen the lock nut (A) intermediate pulley by turning 45°from the set position.
1. Generator.
2. Water pump.
3. Crankshaft pulley.
4. Air conditioning compressor drive pulley (models with air conditioning) or intermediate pulley (models without air conditioning).
5. Idler pulley.
6. Drive belt.
A. Intermediate pulley lock nut.
B. Adjusting bolt.
Attention.
- If the lock nut is fully loosened, it will not be possible to set the required drive belt tension with the intermediate pulley. Never loosen the lock nut completely (more than 45°).
- Put a setting mark on the lock nut and check the angle of rotation with a protractor. Never determine the angle of rotation of the lock nut «approximately».
2. Adjust the drive belt tension by turning the adjusting bolt.
Attention.
- If the tension check is carried out immediately after installation, first you need to adjust to the set value. Then, after turning the crankshaft two turns, and adjust again, so that the belt is installed in its working position on the engine pulleys.
- When adjusting the tension of the drive belt, the idler pulley lock nut must be in the position described in step 1. If it is fully loosened, the tension cannot be adjusted.
3. Tighten the lock nut of the intermediate pulley with a tightening torque of 34.8 Nm.
