- Opening one of the side doors, the hood or the tailgate;

The anti-theft alarm is activated when the car doors are locked. The hood and all doors, including the tailgate, must be closed. Otherwise, when attempting to activate the alarm, the buzzer will sound.
When the hazard warning lights are triggered, the horn and direction indicators will sound intermittently for approximately 38 seconds. The hazard warning lights will resume sounding after 5 seconds if the reason for the hazard warning lights is still active. The hazard warning lights will be turned off when the vehicle is unlocked using the remote control or when the ignition key is inserted into the ignition switch and turned to the "ON" position.
Nissan Engine Immobilizer (NATS) reads the code from the key fob or key inserted into the ignition switch and compares this code with its internal code. If the codes do not match, the engine will not start.
If you cannot start the engine with the standard NATS key, this may be due to the influence of other NATS keys or other devices located on the same key chain as the ignition key - try using the key separately. In this case, you can try to start the engine as described below.

Leave the ignition key or ignition switch in the "ON" position for about 5 seconds, then turn it to the "OFF" or "LOCK" position and wait another 5 seconds. Repeat the above procedure again and try to start the engine.
The instrument cluster has a NATS warning light (W/L). The W/L flashes when the key or ignition switch is in the "LOCK" or "ACC" position, indicating that the vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft alarm system. If the NATS system is faulty, the W/L will remain illuminated as long as the ignition is on. If the W/L goes out after an extended period (15 minutes) of illumination, the engine can be started, but only once. In this case, contact a Nissan service center immediately to have the immobilizer checked and repaired.
