Checking drive belts (Nissan Note E11)

The check should only be carried out on a cold engine or 30 minutes after the engine has been stopped.

1. Generator; 2. Water pump; 3. Crankshaft pulley; 4. Air conditioning compressor(on models with air conditioning); Tension pulley (on models without air conditioning); 5. Tension pulley; 6. Drive belt

Visually inspect the belts for wear, damage or cracks on the contact surfaces and edges.

Before checking, turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise twice and make sure that the tension on all pulleys is equal.

When measuring deflection, apply a force of 98 N (10 kg) at the point marked with the ▼ symbol.

Measure the belt tension and frequency using an acoustic tension meter at the point marked with the ▼ symbol.

Note: When measuring the tension and frequency, use an acoustic tension meter. When checking immediately after installing the belt, first adjust it to the standard value. Then, after turning the crankshaft two turns or more, re-adjust the deflection to the standard value and eliminate the spread in the belt deflection between the pulleys.
