Tire pressure
Check tire pressure periodically (including spare wheel). Abnormal pressure reduces tire life and impairs machine control. The pressure should be checked when the tires are COLD. Tires are considered COLD after three hours of parking, or if the car has traveled no more than 1.6 km. The cold tire pressure is indicated on the tire label affixed to the center console on the driver's side.
Insufficient pressure leads to overheating of the tires and, as a result, damage to the inner surface. At high speeds, this can cause tread separation and even tire blowout.
Tire types
ATTENTION! When replacing or rearranging tires, be sure to comply with the requirement that the type and design of all four tires installed on the vehicle be identical (summer, all season or winter). Contact your Nissan dealer for information on types, sizes, top speed ratings and tire availability. Please note that new tires may have a lower speed rating than the original factory tires and may not match the machine's maximum cruising speed. It is not allowed to exceed the maximum speed index set for tires.
Year round tires
For some car models, Nissan installs all-season tires suitable for all seasonal conditions, including snow and ice. Year-round tires are marked on the sidewall "ALL SEASON" and/or "M&S". In areas with a long snow cover, it is recommended to install winter tires that have more grip on snow,
Summer tires
For some car models, Nissan installs summer tires that are most suitable for driving on dry roads. On snowy and icy roads, the performance of summer tires is significantly reduced. On summer tires, the marking of the clutch rating "M&S" absent.
When driving on snowy and icy roads, Nissan recommends using winter or all-season tires on all four wheels.
Winter tires
When replacing tires with winter tires, it is necessary to observe their equivalence in size and load rate to the original tires. Otherwise, the vehicle's handling and driving safety may be impaired.
As a rule, winter tires have a lower maximum speed index than the original factory tires, and therefore do not correspond to the maximum cruising speed of the machine. Do not exceed the maximum speed index set for the tire.
Studded tires can be used to increase traction on icy roads. Please be aware that in some areas and countries the use of studded tires is prohibited. The grip of studded winter tires on wet or dry surfaces is generally worse than that of regular winter tires.
Anti-skid chains
Please be aware that in some areas the use of snow chains is prohibited. Chains must be sized to fit the bar and installed according to the chain manufacturer's instructions. Be sure to use chain tensioners if recommended by the manufacturer. To prevent damage to the fenders or chassis of the vehicle, the ends of the chains must be securely fastened.
In addition, you should drive at a reduced speed, as at high speed the handling and driving characteristics of the car with chains are much worse, and the risk of damage to the car increases.
Snow chains must be fitted to the front wheels. It is not allowed to install chains on the rear wheels.
Do not drive with chains on the wheels on paved, non-snowy roads. Otherwise, the resulting mechanical stresses can cause damage to various devices in the car.
Wheel swap
Nissan recommends changing the wheels every 10,000 km.
The procedure for changing wheels is described in the section "Flat tire".
ATTENTION!
- After rearranging the wheels, it is necessary to adjust the air pressure in the tires.
- For aluminum wheels, the wheel nuts must be tightened after the first 1000 km of operation (this procedure is described in section "Flat tire").
- Incorrect tire selection and installation and inadequate care and maintenance can affect driving safety and increase the risk of an accident. If you have any questions, we recommend that you contact your Nissan dealer or tire specialist.
Tire wear and damage
Tires should be inspected periodically for wear, cracks, bulges and objects stuck in the tread. If excessive wear, cracks, blisters or deep cuts are found, the tire should be replaced immediately.
Tires originally installed have a wear indicator. When the tread wears down to the index strip, replace the tire.
Tire aging
Be aware of the aging process of tires. Tires that are more than six years old must not be used, whether they have been used or not.
Tires age both from time and from use. Therefore, they should be regularly inspected and balanced by a tire specialist. It is recommended to record in the operating log all incidents in which the tires were subjected to an impact, even a minor one.
Changing tires and wheels
When replacing a tire with a new one, you should take a tire of the same size, speed index and load capacity as the one originally installed. Recommended types and sizes are listed in section "Wheels and tires". Use of tires other than those recommended or use of a mixed set of tires of different brands, designs (radial or diagonal) or tread pattern will adversely affect vehicle performance, stopping distance, vehicle handling, ground clearance, fender-to-tire clearance, chain tire clearance, speedometer calibration, headlight beam direction and bumper height. Any of these factors increase the risk of a traffic accident.
It is allowed to replace factory wheels only with wheels having the same offset. The use of wheels with excessive offset will cause accelerated tire wear and adversely affect machine handling and brake performance. Discs and drums. Abnormal operation of discs and drums leads to an increase in the braking distance and accelerated wear of the brake pads.
CAREFULLY! It is not allowed to install deformed wheels and tires, even after their repair. Such wheels and tires may have internal material damage and may fail at any time.
When fitting winter tires, make sure they are the same size, brand, design and tread pattern on all four wheels.
Wheel balancing
Unbalanced wheels impair machine control and reduce tire life. The wheels are out of balance even during normal vehicle operation. Therefore, it is necessary, as necessary, to carry out their balancing.
Wheel balancing should be done with the wheels removed. Balancing the rotation of the front wheels directly on the machine can damage the transmission.
Spare tire
The spare wheel with the tire that the car is equipped with can be either standard, similar to those already installed, or temporary. If a replacement tire with a temporary wheel is included, use it as described below. The temporary spare wheel can be distinguished from the standard one by the color of the rim. If in doubt on this issue, please contact your Nrssan dealer.
