Cylinder Block — Cleaning (Nissan Terrano 1)

Attention! If the cooling system channel plugs fall into the cylinder block channel, it is usually impossible to remove them.


1. Drill holes in the plugs and pull them out by tightening bolts or screws, or remove them with a puller with curved jaws.

2. Carefully clean the block from the remains of the seal (photo).

3. Remove the main bearing caps and take the bearings out of the cylinder block and caps. Label all parts to avoid confusion.

4. Clean all channels with a jet of steam and compressed air (it is recommended to perform it in a car service center), wash the block from the outside with detergent. Run all the threaded holes, clean and blow with compressed air (photo). Dry the block and lubricate the treated surfaces with spindle oil.

5. Install the main bearing caps, tighten the bolts by hand.

6. Press in new plugs without distortions, having previously lubricated them with RTV sealant (photo).
