Removing
1. Remove the airbag module. See ch. Additional passive safety system.
2. Disconnect all connectors.
3. Turn off a fixing nut of a steering wheel and apply with paint marks of combination on the case of a steering wheel and on top of a shaft of a steering column.
4. Remove the steering wheel with a puller (special tool).
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
Note: When reusing the coiled wire, secure the wire with electrical tape so that it does not move against the fixed housing. This saves you the hassle of performing the neutral check procedure when installing the coiled wire.
neutral position (see fig.)... Carefully turn the coiled wire clockwise until it stops. Then turn it counterclockwise (about 2.5 turns), until the centering mark is aligned with the adjustment mark (the moving part is fixed in the neutral position with a stopper; it can be installed on the steering wheel without alignment after removing the stopper).
Attention:
Install the steering wheel as follows: turn the front wheels to the straight-forward position. The R mark on the release grip must be facing down. The three tabs must align with the three holes under the steering wheel assembly. Make sure the coiled wire is in the neutral position and that the dowel pin to the left of the coiled wire is aligned with the hole under the steering wheel assembly.
Do not turn the coiled wire more than necessary. Do not overtighten (wire may break).
After installation, check if the system is working properly by observing the airbag warning light.
If the airbag warning lamp indicates a malfunction, use the self-diagnosis function or the CONSULT tester to clear the diagnostic results.
If the airbag warning light still indicates a malfunction, run system diagnostics. Repair defective components.
