Before dismantling, clean the steering gear with clean gasoline, etc. Be careful not to get gasoline on the intake and exhaust port connections.
1. Remove the tubes from the steering gear housing assembly.
2. Remove the cap from the steering gear housing assembly.
3. Loosen and remove the adjusting screw and locknut, remove the spring and retainer from the steering gear housing assembly.
4. Loosen the drive gear assembly mounting bolts and remove it from the housing.
Caution: Do not disassemble the drive gear. In case of deviation from the norm, replace it as an assembly.
5. Turn off fixing nuts, remove external tips and covers.
Caution: When removing the covers, do not damage the inner tips and body assembly. Failure to do so may result in oil leaks, necessitating replacement of the inner tips and body assembly.
6. Slide the spacer, caulk the lock plate in two places (arrow A). Unscrew and remove the inner tip of the rail.
Caution: When removing the lock plate from the rail, be careful not to damage the rail. Otherwise, oil leaks are possible, which will necessitate the replacement of the rack.
7. Remove the locking plate from the rail -
8. Using a drill with a diameter of approx. 3 mm drill the caulked areas from the cap side of the steering gear housing assembly. Drill to a depth of approximately 1.5 mm.
9. Using a ring wrench with a diameter of approx. 36mm unscrew cap assembly.
10. Remove the rail and outer glands from the body.
Attention: Be careful not to damage the rail and the inner walls of the housing. Otherwise, oil leaks may occur, necessitating the replacement of the rack and housing assembly.
11. Using a hair dryer, heat the Teflon ring to a temperature of 40°, remove the Teflon ring and O-rings from the rail.
Attention: Do not damage the rail. Otherwise, oil leakage is possible, which will necessitate the replacement of the rack.
12. Using a brass pin or similar tool, remove the centering sleeve and rack inner glands from the body.
Attention: Be careful not to damage the inner walls of the case. Failure to do so may result in oil leaks, necessitating replacement of the housing assembly.
