2. Install the engine on the stand.
a. Remove the exhaust manifold.
b. Remove the front engine mounting bracket, alternator bracket and A/C compressor bracket.
c. Attach the motor mount adapter (special tool) in the air conditioner compressor bracket hole (on the left side of the cylinder block).
Use spacers approx. 5 mm (bottom in 2 places).
d. Raise the engine and fix it on the stand.
You can first attach the adapter and mounting nozzle to the stand, and then install the engine.
3. Drain the engine oil and coolant from the engine.
4. Remove the following components:
- fuel injectors.
- Intake manifold with adapter.
- Thermostat, thermostat housing and water pipes.
- Ignition distributor and valve cover.
- Camshafts and cylinder head.
- Oil pan and coarse oil filter.
- Front cover and timing chain.
- Oil filter bracket.
- Attachment brackets.
5. Remove the knock sensor.
Caution: Do not drop the sensor or subject it to shock.
6. If it is necessary to replace the guide bush, use a special extractor to remove it.
7. Remove the drive disc.
To prevent the crankshaft from turning, secure with a locking plate (special tool) and unscrew the fixing screws.
Caution: To prevent damage to the drive disc, place a rag between it and the stop plate.
8. Remove the back plate.
9. Remove the rear oil seal retainer.
10. If the rear oil seal needs to be replaced, remove it with a flathead screwdriver.
Caution: Be careful not to damage the rear oil seal holder.
11. Remove the pistons and connecting rods as an assembly.
Remove the connecting rod caps, use a hammer handle to push the pistons and connecting rod assemblies towards the cylinder head.
Before loosening the connecting rod nut, check the connecting rod backlash (see below).
12. Remove the piston rings from the piston.
Use a piston ring expander.
Attention:
Remove the rings carefully so as not to damage the piston.
Don't spread the piston rings too wide to avoid breaking them.
13. Remove the piston from the connecting rod.
A. Remove retaining ring with pliers.
b. Heat the plunger with a hair dryer or similar heater to 60-70°C.
d. Knock out the piston pin with a rod with an outer diameter of about 20 mm.
14. Turn off bolts of covers of radical bearings.
Unscrew in the order shown in the picture.
15. Remove the main bearing caps.
To remove, use a special puller.
Before unscrewing the bolts securing the main bearing caps, check the crankshaft axial play (see below).
16. Remove the crankshaft, main and thrust bearings.
Attention: In order not to confuse the parts, put them in order.
17. Remove the oil deflector from the cylinder block.
