Measurement
Install the bearing into the connecting rod and cap and tighten the connecting rod bolts to the specified torque. Use a bore gauge to measure the inside diameter of the connecting rod bearing.

(Oil clearance) = (Connecting rod bearing inner diameter) - (Outside diameter of the crank pin)
- Standard clearance: 0.020-0.045 mm
- Limit clearance: 0.065 mm
If the clearance cannot be adjusted within the required limits, select the connecting rod bearing based on the outside diameter of the big end of the connecting rod and the outside diameter of the crankshaft journal so that the lubrication clearance complies with the standard (see the section below "The procedure for selecting a connecting rod bearing").
Measuring with calibrated plastic wire
Wipe off dirt and oil from the crankshaft main journals and bearing surfaces.
Cut the wire into pieces slightly shorter than the width of the bearings, place them in the direction of the crankshaft axis, but not on the lubrication holes.
Tighten the main bearing bolts to the specified torque.

Caution: Do not turn the crankshaft.
Remove the caps and bearings and measure the width of the wire pieces with the indicator on the wire package.
Note: If the measured value exceeds the norm, take the same measures as specified in the "Measurement" section.
