Rear brake assembly components

1. Jack up the vehicle and remove the relevant wheel.
2. With the parking brake released, remove the brake drum (see Section Removal and installation of the hub assembly of the rear wheel).
3. Simultaneously wringing out and rotating clamps, extend directing pads and remove assembly of pads.
Note. Do not damage the protective caps of the wheel cylinder.
4. Disconnect the parking brake cable.
5. If necessary, disconnect the coupling springs and expansion bar from the shoes.
6. For removal of the wheel cylinder disconnect from it a brake tube and turn out its fixing bolts.
Installation
1. If filmed, establish the wheel cylinder.
2. Apply Nissan KRF0000005 grease to the sliding surfaces of the brake shoes and to the surfaces of the brake shield shown in the illustration.
3. Shorten the expansion bar by rotating its tip.
Note. The expansion bar on the left/right side of the vehicle has a left/right thread respectively.
4. Connect the expansion bar and coupling springs to the shoes. Connect the parking brake cable.
5. Install the shoe assembly, being careful not to damage the wheel cylinder protective caps, and make sure that the components are installed correctly.
6. Install the brake drum (see Section Removal and installation of the hub assembly of the rear wheel).
7. Adjust the parking brake. If the wheel cylinder was removed, bleed the brake system (see Section Changing the brake fluid and bleeding the brake system).
